The All Tournament Teams for 2014 were announced on Championship Tuesday. MVP for A, B and C were Justin Kesselring (Fairport), Mike DeMarco (Victor) and Rion Davison (Penn Yan). Players were selected on the basis of their performances in the Section Five Tournaments.

# 1285  All Greater Rochester 2017

The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle announced their 2017 All-Greater Rochester Lacrosse team today. The list features the top sixteen players and a number of honorable mentions were led by Canandaigua senior Attackman, Devin Andrews who was named "Player of the Year". Andrews, who was also a US Lacrosse All-American, scored 72 goals and 47 assists this year. The SportsFive Offensive Player of the Year plans to study and play at Stony Brook next year.

# 1268  Looking Ahead: Upstate Championships

At this point only the final four are left and in each class there are two teams in the Upstate Tournaments and two are in the Downstate Tournaments. As Wednesday is a school day, the games have been split with the Class A and Class B games being played in Rochester (St. John Fisher College) and the Class C and Class D being played in Syracuse (CNS). Downstate , Class B and Class B will be played at SUNY Albany and the Class C and Class D games will be played at Adelphi University. The winners will play for the State Championships on Saturday at St. John Fisher College (Rochester).

# 1265  Pal-Mac Comes Back in the Fourth

Section Five representative Palmyra-Macedon defeated Section Six representative Grand Island 8-6 in the Western Regional Championship.  The Red Raiders trailed for a significant portion of the game before mounting a four goal comeback in the final quarter.  Pal-Mac held the Vikings scoreless for the final 13 minutes.  James Blazey led the Red Raiders in scoring with 2g-1a.

# 1256  Pal-Mac Wins First Sectional Title

Pal-Mac won their first even Section Five Championship with a 16-11 win over Honeoye Falls-Lima.  The Red Raiders lead for nearly the entire game.  The Cougars took an early lead; however, Pal-Mac took over late in the first quarter and slowly increased their lead for the remaining three quarters.  At the largest difference, the Red Raiders led by eight.  In addition to the boys, Pal-Mac girls also won the Section Five Championship with a 16-5 win over Penn Yan (HERE).

The Class A tournament bracket held as Hilton (#4) defeated Greece Lightning and Penfield (#3) beat Rush-Henrietta (#6). Nine different Cadets made the scorebook, led by Jordan DePetres with 3g-1a. Shawn Doran won 13 of 14 draws for the winners and Jacob VanWuychuyse made six saves (100%).

DAY IN REVIEW: Brighton used a 6-5 first half to beat Pal-Mac by one goal this afternoon. Brady McDermott led the Barons with 4g-1a while goalie Caleb Green recorded thirteen saves (57%) in the cage. Brian Burger led the Red Raider offense with 4g-1a while Jared Hurlbuto posted twelve saves (52%).

The "Defenseman of the Year" was Dylan Joy from Gananda and Pal-Mac Head Coach Joe Hill was named Coach of the Year. Matt Morrin was named Assistant Coach of the Year and Tom Palmer from Gananda was named Man of the Year. Eddie Eddington was named a USLacrosse All American and Ben Reeves was named a USLacrosse Academic All American by the Section Five Coaches.

# 439  2016 All-Section Five List Released

This is the sixth year for the Section Five All-Section Team. It is an effort by the Lacrosse Committee and the coaches of Section Five to identify some of the top players among the over 1,100 varsity players in the section this year. Nominations for the lists came from Head coaches, administrators and SportsFive personnel. This year 15 players were selected for the first team, 13 players for second team and this year, 12 players on the third team. Our six All Americans automatically make the first team. All players on this list must first be named to their first team All-League teams or be from Independent teams.
